Former New Zealand left-arm pacer Trent Boult bowled a toe-crushing yorker to England wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow and gave him fiery send-off in the Men's Hundred 2026 clash on August 6. In the London derby, MI London's Boult was hit for a four and a six by London Spirit's Bairstow in his second over. Boult replied with a perfect yorker which crashed into the leg-stump. As Bairstow started walking off the ground, Boult had a few words to say. The batter replied with a smile as he was dismissed for a seven-ball 13.

Bairstow and Boult have been former teammates for the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise briefly in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Apart from Bairstow, Boult also dismissed David Willey who scored 31 runs from 18 balls. But, he ended up conceding 35 runs from his quota of 20 deliveries.
Boult in the Hundred
In the ongoing competition, Boult is the joint third-highest wicket-taker. The 37-year-old has taken eight wickets for six games, averaging 18.75. His economy rate is just under eight runs per over. Recently, he was released by MI Cape Town ahead of SA20 mini-auction. It is yet to be seen whether MI London take the same approach.
MI London win tense clash
Despite Bairstow, skipper Liam Livingstone and Dewald Brevis falling cheaply, London Spirit managed to post 160/5. After Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Willey, James Coles and Jamie Overton contributed with cameos.
In the run chase, openers Will Jacks and James couldn't convert starts into big scores. Nicholas Pooran, Sam Curran and Sikandar Raza's 30s followed by Tom Curran and Ollie Pope's finishing touches helped MI London chase down 161 with six balls to spare. Pope batted as low as no.8, even after Tom in the lineup. Raza was adjudged ‘Hero of the match’ for hitting four sixes in his 16-ball 32.
This was London Spirit's fifth defeat from six games. They have been knocked out of the playoffs race. Meanwhile, MI London climbed to the second spot, just below Trent Rockets. MI London have four wins from six games.
