Ugly scenes in BPL 2024-25! Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib shoulder barges Pakistan's Mohammad Nawaz followed by verbal spat; watch video

Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib lost his cool and shoulder barged into Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 clash between Khulna Tigers and Sylhet Strikers. Nawaz hit Sakib for a six and a four in the previous over. Shakib dismissed Sakib in the 17th over and made physical contact with him which was followed by a verbal spat.

Nawaz was deceived by the slower one from Sakib and was caught at short third man by Zakir Hasan. As Sakib and Hasan engaged in verbal spat, the umpires rushed to intervene. Β Sakib and Nawaz may face sanctions for their altercation in the slog overs.

Nawaz departed after contributing with a 16-ball 33 cameo featuring three fours and a couple of sixes. Despite Abu Hider Rony's six-ball 14 and Mahudil Islam Ankon's 16-ball 28, Khulna Tigers failed to chase down the target of 183 as they managed to post 174/9.

Sakib claimed a couple of wickets including Imrul Kayes but he conceded 45 runs from his quota of four overs. England left-arm pacer Reece Topley had identical bowling figures too. Ruyel Miah was economical as he conceded 28 runs and got two wickets. West Indies' off-spinner Rahmeem Cornwal and Nahidul Islam conceded 28 runs each.

Two fifties and cameos help Strikers post fighting total

Earlier, Rony Talukdar and Zakir's half-centuries helped Sylhet Strikers post 182/5. Overeseas recruits Cornwall and George Munsey fell early in the powerplay overs. Talukdar and Zakir shared a 106-run partnership for the third wicket. The opener scored 56 runs from 44 balls including five fours and a couple of sixes. Zakir remained unbeaten for 75 off 46 deliveries. The wicketkeeper-batter's knock was laced with three fours and a six. Aaron Jones pushed the scoring rate with three sixes during his six-ball stay at the crease. Skipper Ariful Haque remained unbeaten for 21 off 13 balls after Jaker Ali got knocked by Ziaur Rahman for a golden duck in the 17th over. Nawaz was unimpressive with the ball conceding 22 runs from two overs.

This was Sylhet Strikers' second win from five games. They are fifth on the points table. On the other hand, Khulna Tigers suffered their second defeat from four games. They are fourth on the points table with a better net run rate (NRR).
