Rohit Sharma's India, currently at the helm of the World Test Championship points table, enters the upcoming series against Bangladesh brimming with confidence. Their recent dominance over England, where they secured a convincing 4-1 victory, showcased their exceptional skills and determination.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh arrives with a heightened sense of optimism, buoyed by their recent clean sweep of Pakistan. Led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, the Bangladesh team will be eager to carry this momentum into the India series and aim for a similar outcome.
Umpires revealed for India vs Bangladesh Test series
With the highly anticipated India versus Bangladesh Test series just around the corner, umpires, who will officiate the matches, have been revealed. As per Times of India report, Rod Tucker and Richard Kettleborough will take charge of the first Test, to be played in Chennai. For the second Test in Kanpur, Kettleborough will be joined by Chris Brown on the field. While the Indian squad for the series is yet to be officially announced, it is widely expected that Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the team, with Jasprit Bumrah serving as his deputy. Given the team's strong performance in recent matches, significant changes to the squad are unlikely. There has been speculation that Rishabh Pant might make a comeback to the Indian Test team. This would mark his return to the longest format of the game since December 2022, when he was involved in a car accident.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are expected to form the core of India's pace attack for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. The third pacer spot is likely to be contested between Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep. The series against Bangladesh will mark the start of India's Test season. Following this, the team will face New Zealand in a three-match Test series before embarking on a challenging five-match Test series against Australia.
