Unmukt Chand hits T20 first century in USA after retirement, blasts 15 fours & 7 sixes

Unmukt Chand has made a major impact in USA’s Minor League Cricket after he announced his retirement last month. Chand scored a brilliant 132 off 69 deliveries for his team Silicon Valley Strikers against Austin Athletics on September 26. The highlights of his century posted by Minor League Cricket has been making rounds on Twitter.

 

During his match-winning unbeaten knock, the Under-19 World Cup-winning captain scored his majority of runs (102) via boundaries including 15 fours and seven sixes. The innings helped Strikers qualify for the Conference Finals, chasing down the target of 185 with three balls to spare.

 

This is Delhi-born batter’s highest T20 score. The 28-year-old’s previous highest in the format was 125. Before this innings, he had scored three T20 centuries. 

 

So far, Chand has scored 532 runs from 14 games at an impressive average of 53.20 and a strike rate of 122.58. He has remained not out for four times in the tournament. He has hit 52 fours in the series, the most by any batter. Also, he has hit 18 sixes. With 532 runs, he is the fifth-highest run-scorer of the tournament. However, he has a chance to finish as the top run-scorer as the difference between him and the leading run-scorer is just 32 runs.
