India’s 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made a massive 230-place jump in the ICC Men’s T20I batter rankings following his ‘Player of the series’ performances in the recently-concluded three-T20I series against Zimbabwe. Sooryavanshi scored 151 runs from three innings at a strike rate of 196.10, featuring two fifties. He has now taken the 48th place in the rankings, just below West Indies opener Brandon King.
Ishan Kishan maintained the first position but lost six rating points. Sooryavanshi's opening partner slipped to third position below Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan. Abhishek had scored just 11 runs from three innings on Zimbabwe tour. Tilak Varma gained two places and moved to sixth position after two half-centuries in last four innings.
Zimbabwe opener Brian Bennett slipped out of top 10 after a lacklustre run against India. It led to Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh, South Africa's Dewald Brevis and New Zealand's Tim Seifert taking ninth, 10th and 11th place respectively.
Iyer up, Surya & Sanju slip
As India's T20 World Cup 2026-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav continues to be out of the side, he slipped three places to 19th. India captain Shreyas Iyer jumped seven places to take the 24th spot. Meanwhile, rested/snubbed for the Zimbabwe tour, Sanju Samson lost three places and is now slotted at 33rd position.
Chakaravarthy, Bumrah, Arshdeep slip places
There were a few changes in the T20I bowler rankings too. India's mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, who missed the Zimbabwe series due to injury, moved down three places to eighth. It led to Australia's Nathan Ellis, South Africa's Corbin Bosch and Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga moving up one place each to fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. Chakaravarthy shares the eighth spot with Afghanistan's Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
India's pace-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has lost five places as well. Bumrah was rested for the T20I series against Ireland and England followed by Zimbabwe. He is now 17th-ranked bowler. Another Indian bowler who went down several places is left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh. He is now ranked 24th with an eight-place dip.
Like Bumrah, left-arm spinner Axar Patel slipped five places to 32nd. Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani made a 10-place jump to 26th. He took four wickets in the series against India. In all three games, he got rid of opener Abhishek.
