India U-19 vs UAE U-19: Vaibhav Suryavanshi smacked a sensational hundred against UAE in the U-19 Asia Cup on Friday. The India U-19 side kicked off their tournament with the game against UAE and the 14-year-old once again went on to grab headlines. After being invited to bat first, the left-hander made the most out of the opportunity and went on to play a phenomenal innings.
Suryavanshi came out to open alongside skipper Ayush Mhatre against UAE. The two failed to provide the Men in Blue with a strong start as the latter lost his wicket cheaply for just four runs in the third over. This was a big disappointment as Mhatre had been in top form for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and had played multiple match-winning knocks.
Suryavanshi and George's mammoth stand
However, the partnership between Suryavanshi and Aaron George took put all of India's concerns to bed. The duo smacked the opposing bowlers all around the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai and formed a humongous stand. Suryavanshi was obviously the aggressor and completed his half-century in next to no time.
He wouldn't stop there and would soon go on to reach his hundred after facing just 56 deliveries. It was yet another superb innings from the teenage sensation who just continues to get better with each tournament. Suryavanshi hit five boundaries and nine sixes in what was another explosive inning and carried India over the 200-run mark.
George's contributions to the total cannot be understated as he too went on to score a fine half-century and played the supporting role perfectly alongside Suryavanshi. The duo would go on to form a partnership of 212 runs before George got dismissed for 69 runs from 73 deliveries. However, the fall of this wicket didn't reduce UAE's problems as Suryavanshi continued to bat in his own way.
Suryavanshi aiming for a double-hundred
The teenager soon went on to reach the 150-run mark as the opposing bowlers failed to stop him. He has already scored over 10 sixes in his fiery innings and with a lot of overs still left, he will now be targeting a potential double-century. It will be monumental feat if he goes on to reach the double-ton later in the innings.
