Vaibhav Suryavanshi creates history despite failure on Vijay Hazare Trophy debut, becomes youngest Indian player to reach this epic milestone

When Vaibhav Suryavanshi played for Bihar in their opening match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Madhya Pradesh on Saturday (December 21), he scripted history and left his mark on the record books once again. Since making his debut in domestic cricket, Vaibhav has been breaking records, and he now has another record in Indian cricket.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the youngest Indian player currently participating in List A cricket. Ali Akbar's record was broken by Vaibhav, who is 13 years and 269 days old. In the 1999–2000 season, he made his List A debut at the age of 14 years and 51 days. Vaibhav is the youngest Indian to represent India at the U19 level and compete in the Ranji Trophy and List A cricket.

He also created history after joining the Rajasthan Royals franchise for Rs 1.10 crore at the IPL 2025 mega-auction. In an IPL auction, he became the youngest player to receive an offer. He will be the youngest debutant in the history of the IPL if he makes his debut the following year.

Suryavanshi fails to perform in List A debut

Suryavanshi could not turn his first List A match memorable as the southpaw got out after scoring just four runs. On the first ball he faced, Vaibhav hit a boundary to start his account. On the very following delivery, he was caught out. In 46.4 overs, Bihar was able to score only 196 runs.

Madhya Pradesh, who recently also played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final completed the chase in just 25.1 overs. Harsh Gawli, the opener, was outstanding with the bat, smashing an incredible 83 off 63 balls. During the chase, captain Rajat Patidar hit a quick 55 off 33 balls. On Monday, December 23, Bihar will play their next league stage match against Tripura. In their upcoming match, MP will play Delhi, which is starred by Ishant Sharma.
