The aggressive brand of cricket seems to be rubbing off the young generation. In the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Saurashtra batter posted a mammoth total of 450/4 against Arunachal Pradesh. While most of the batters adopted an aggressive approach, no.6 batter Vatsal Patel stood out of the lot. He cleared the fence nine times at St. Stephen's Ground in his unbeaten 29-ball 87.

Yadav hits century

Saurashtra did not get off to an ideal start as opener Zaid Bambhaniya fell for a golden duck to Pasang Norbu. Manish Yadav and wicketkeeper-batter Yuvraj Gohil shared a 208-run partnership for the second wicket from 183 balls. Gohil missed his century as he became Norbu's second victim of the day. Gohil scored 84 runs from 89 balls including 11 fours. Yadav went on to score his century. He got bowled by Chubing Chege. The opener's knock of 122 runs from 107 balls was laced with 13 fours and three sixes.

Marvin Javiya looked to attack Arunachal Pradesh bowlers who are not known for their accuracy. Javiya hit nine fours and two sixes and nine fours in his 34-ball 59. He shared a 78-run partnership from just 43 balls with Jay Ravaliya. Javiya lost his wicket to Jatin Anil Bharti in the 42nd over.

Ravaliya and Patel went hammer and tongs against Arunachal Pradesh bowlers. Sixes rained at the St. Stephen’s Ground as they crossed the 400-run mark with ease. In the penultimate over, Patel even hit five sixes in a row. The unbeaten 137-run partnership from just 51 balls took the score of 450/4. Ravaliya hit 10 fours and two sixes in his 40-ball 72.

Arunachal Pradesh bowlers’ figures

Norbu bagged a couple of wickets but ended up conceding 112 runs from his quota of 10 overs. Daksh Sirohi and Manasdeep Tiwari remained wicketless and conceded 85 and 86 runs respectively from 10 overs each. Chege turned out to be the most economical Arunachal Pradesh bowler. He went for 75 runs in 10 overs.
