India star cricketer Virat Kohli will now be seen playing under Gautam Gambhir's guidance as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed him India's new head coach after the T20 World Cup 2024. Both cricketers will be part of India's squad in the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka where Kohli will feature in the ODIs. There are so many speculations and questions on the cricket board since they appointed the former KKR mentor as the new head coach. Questions were being raised about Kohli because the relationship between the two is not good, but now he is ready to forget all the past things and make a new beginning. According to Cricbuzz, Kohli had a conversation with BCCI, where he told the board that he is ready to move forward by forgetting all the past fights with Gambhir.
Kohli and Gambhir were part of an on-field verbal spat during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Ekana Sports City Stadium in Lucknow. Now, both are ready to work together towards the country's interests and are ready to move on from earlier disagreements.
"Kohli is comfortable working with Gambhir and has communicated this clearly to the relevant BCCI officials. Despite their history, marked by a bitter confrontation captured by cameras during IPL games in the past, Kohli is believed to have stated that previous issues will not affect their professional relationship in the dressing room. Following the World Cup final in Barbados, discussions were reportedly held on the matter. Kohli, who, like Gambhir, is from Delhi, assured the concerned parties that he recognizes both are working towards the country's interests and is ready to move on from earlier disagreements," the report stated.
