Virat Kohli has finally confirmed the emotional end of his World Cup journey with India. The legendary batter has declared that the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be the last time he represents India on the biggest stage.

In comments shared via JioStar, the Indian great said:
“For me, it’s the last World Cup I’m going to play for India.”
Kohli, who made his ODI debut in 2008, added:
“And that is my motivation… And of course, the goal is absolutely to win the World Cup. And whatever it takes, I’m absolutely ready.”
The statement comes as the 37-year-old continues to focus solely on the 50-over format after stepping away from Test and T20 international cricket. Kohli was part of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning squad and remains one of the country’s most decorated white-ball players.
The 2027 tournament is scheduled for October and November and will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia across 12 venues. India’s last ODI World Cup triumph came in 2011, with the side finishing as runners-up in 2023.
Kohli led India to the semifinal of the 2019 ODI World Cup in England and Wales. He was later sacked as the captain of the format in December 2021. He then played the 2-23 edition when Rohit Sharma captained. The Royal Challengers Bangalore superstar will be seen playing in the IPL, while he has already called it quits from T20Is and Test cricket.
