‘And he was apparently finished..’: Virat Kohli hits out at Cristiano Ronaldo's critics in special Instagram post

India's one of the most celebrated cricketer Virat Kohli slammed Cristiano Ronaldo's critics after the latter's heroics in the friendly match between Riyad XI and PSG. India's batting juggernaut Kohli is an ardent follower of football and his love for Ronaldo is known to everyone.

 

Kohli put out a special Instagram story for the Portuguese football star and hit out at the football experts who were questioning Ronaldo's future. Kohli's Instagram story came out after Ronaldo's exceptional performance in the fixture. While leading Riyadh XI team, Ronaldo netted a brace while PSG had to toil hard to script a 5-4 win.

 

"Still doing it at the highest level at 38. The football experts sitting and criticising him every week for attention and to be in the news are conveniently quiet now that no he's put in this kind of performance against one of the top clubs in the world. And he was apparently finished," Kohli wrote in his Instagram story.

Ronaldo was the star attraction on the field. He converted a penalty to level the scores and scored another goal in the first half. He was subbed off after 60 minutes. Not just Ronaldo, PSG stars Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr were also subbed off.

 

Two of the greatest footballers of all time - Ronaldo and Messi - sent the football planet on fire as the duo put on an incredible display during a friendly game between Riyadh XI and PSG at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh on January 19 (Thursday). The marquee match-up lived up to all the pre-game hype, and in some ways, exceeded expectations and rolled out a fairytale story.

Before the game, Ronaldo embraced and greeted longtime rival Lionel Messi and his teammates, Neymar and Mbappe. When the two teams lined up in the tunnel, the Portuguese phenomenon provided a heartwarming moment for millions of football lovers around the world. In a seven-second video shared by PSG, four players with combined Instagram followers of over 1.25 billion shared a beautiful moment before kick-off in Riyadh.

The game also saw legendary Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan shake hands with the very best in football. The Bollywood superstar was the guest of honour on the occassion and greeted Messi, Ronaldo and company before the match. As pics of Big B and the football GOATs surfaced online, internet erupted with admiration.

 

Meanwhile, talking about Kohli, he will be seen in action in the second ODI against New Zealand which will be played in Raipur on Saturday (January 21). Recently he smashed his 46th ODI century in the just concluded One Day International series against Sri Lanka.
