Indian fans at Dubai International Cricket Stadium chanted “Trophy Chor, Trophy Chor” after the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final on Sunday, targeting Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi during the post-match ceremony. The video has been making rounds on the internet.
India defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs to claim a record-extending eighth Women’s Asia Cup title. However, Harmanpreet Kaur’s side did not collect the trophy or winners’ medals from Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and Pakistan’s interior minister. The presentation was delayed by almost an hour before Naqvi left the podium abruptly.

Sri Lanka players received their runners-up medals and captain Chamari Athapaththu accepted the runners-up cheque from Naqvi. However, the Indian women celebrated the win on the sidelines, creating their own space to celebrate the record-extending title.
The Indian team remained absent from the stage as Naqvi waited to present the trophy. Coach Amol Muzumdar later confirmed the decision followed a BCCI directive and that they support it. The incident has echoed the 2025 men’s Asia Cup final, when India also declined to accept the trophy from Naqvi amid strained India-Pakistan relations.
