Pakistan wicketkeepers have produced some of the hilarious moments on the field over the years. Pakistan women wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali is the latest entrant on the list as she could not pull off an easy run out in the 50th over of the innings on January 21.
Australian tailender Kim Garth came down the track against Nashra Sandhu but could not play the shot that she wanted to do. After taking an inside edge the ball hit the pads and went towards the wicketkeeper. Muneeba was quick to pick up the ball while Kim was way outside the crease. However, Muneeba did not take off the bails as Kim got a second chance.
As Muneeba failed to pull off an easy run out, batter Kim could not believe her luck and laughed. Even the Pakistan fielder at square leg position focused on the lighter side of the missed opportunity.
Despite the second chance, Kim could not do much damage in the final overs as she got bowled by Pakistan pacer Fatima Sana. The no.10 batter scored just two runs from eight deliveries.
Australia lost nine wickets but posted a gigantic total of 336 on the board after Bismah Maroof won the toss and opted to field first at North Sydney Oval.
Opener Beth Mooney scored 133 from 105 deliveries including 14 fours and four sixes. She shared a 160-run partnership for the second wicket with skipper Meg Lanning who scored 70-ball 72 including eight fours and one six. Useful contributions down the order from Thalia McGrath, Ashleigh Gardner and Annabel Sutherland helped Australia post a big total.
In reply, Pakistan managed to score 235/7 from 50 overs as they lost the match by a big margin of 101 runs. Skipper Bismah was the top-scorer for the visitors with 44 runs from 71 deliveries. Wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba remained unbeaten for 27 off 40 deliveries.
Lanning-led Australia completed the whitewash in three-ODI series at home. Australia won the first and second ODI by eight and 10 wickets respectively.
