Shresta’s viral reel mocks KKR after rain forces abandonment at Eden Gardens.

KKR continue winless run in IPL 2026, while PBKS sit top of the table with five points.

Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns with Punjab Kings on Monday, April 7 at Eden Gardens, but the game got abandoned with just 22 deliveries bowled due to rain and wet outfield. Ajinkya Rahane's side finally opened their account after they shared a point with the Punjab based franchise.

Shreyas Iyer's sister mocks KKR

Soon after the game Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer's sister, Shresta took a cheeky dig at KKR, by sharing an Instagram reel that went viral among the fans.

In the reel, Shresta funnily said in Punjabi language, "Saade Punjabiyan da dil vadda hunda hai, lo de ditta ek point," implying that PBKS had given away a point following the washout.

Considering the bond between KKR and Shreyas Iyer, who led them to their third IPL title in 2024 before joining PBKS, the reel was interpreted as a dig at Ajinkya Rahane led-side.

Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bat first, Punjab Kings got a great start with the ball as Xavier Bartlett clinched two wickets in the second over Finn Allen (six runs) and Cameron Green (four runs).

When rain spoiled the play KKR were struggling at 25/2, with Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi remained unbeaten on 7 and 8 respectively.

Kolkata Knight Riders' poor start in IPL 2026

In IPL 2026, KKR have lost two of their first three matches and are still looking for their first win in the tournament, with their game against Punjab Kings on Monday abandoned because of rain in Kolkata.

The three-time IPL champions stand at the eight place only because of the solitary point.

Next challenge for KKR

Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants on April 11. The Kolkata based franchise will aim to work on their weak areas, particularly their top-order struggles and lack of depth in the fast-bowling department.

Next challenge for PBKS

The Shreyas Iyer-led side will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11. So far, they have looked like a formidable side in the competition and currently sit atop the points table with five points from three games.
