Pakistan cricket has frequently been marred by controversies, with match-fixing being among the most serious. Several Pakistani cricketers, including Mohammad Amir, Salman Butt, and Mohammad Asif, have faced accusations and even served jail sentences for their involvement in fixing matches. Recently, former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has come under scrutiny, with ex-batter Basit Ali making serious allegations of match-fixing against him.

Shoaib Malik will mentor Stallions in the upcoming Champions Cup 2024. Champions Cup will be played in ODI format where likes  of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi will feature for their respective franchises.  However, Basit Ali, in a video posted on his YouTube channel has said that Malik should not become the mentor of any side, and then levelled match-fixing allegations at him. Times Now Digital could not independently verify Basit Ali's claims

"The one who doesn't think about the country, should not be appointed. The one who has admitted that he has deliberately lost a match, should not be the mentor. If you want evidence I will give it. Ramiz Raja Saheb interviewed Shoaib Malik. What did he say?" Ali said.

Pakistan are the current host of the Champions Trophy 2025 and there are doubts that BCCI will not allow Indian players to travel to the neighbouring nations to feature in the marquee event. Basit Ali reckoned that the entire decision lies on the shoulders of PM Narendra Modi. Otherwise, Jay Shah will have a tough time taking a call.

"Now, the entire decision lies on the shoulders of PM Narendra Modi. If he agrees then India may travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. Otherwise, the ball will be in ICC's court and then Jay Shah will have a tough time in taking a call," Basit Ali said.
