Dravid who is known for his calm and composed behaviour was seen celebrating aggressively after India lifted the T20 World Cup breaking 11 years ICC title drought.

“Someone like Rahul with whom I have played so much cricket, knew him for so many years, but for him to show that emotions, first when the last ball was bowled and then the various conversations he was having with the team members and when he lifted the trophy” Laxman said in a video posted by the BCCI on its 'X' handle.

"I thought it was a great gesture by Rohit and Virat Kohli to hand over the trophy to him and the way he celebrated by lifting the trophy, it showed how much it meant to each one of them," said Laxman who paired with Dravid in a memorable Test win against Australia in Kolkata in 2001 when they stitched that famous 376-run partnership after following-on.

The T20 World Cup 2024 final was the last assignment for Dravid as India's head coach and now the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed Gautam Gambhir as new head coach for the team, he will join the team India from the upcoming 3 match T20I followed by three-match ODI series scheduled to start from July 23.

Apart from Dravid, India captain Rohit and star batter Kohli also announced their retirement from T20Is and the cricket board is yet to announce their successor for the shortest format of the game.
