Former India opener Wasim Jaffer is known for his witty and funny tweets. Jaffer’s tweets often become the central point of various debates on the internet. Known for his excellent sense of humour, Jaffer has hilarious memes for almost all events.
He does not mind in engaging with fans and even fellow cricketers on social media and it was not surprising when a fan asked him about his experience of coaching Chris Gayle. In response to this, Jafar gave a very different answer.
Jaffer was asked about his experience of coaching the Caribbean player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Jaffer has been the batting coach of Punjab Kings since 2019. Gayle was a part of the franchise since 2018, so Jaffer has spent enough time with the left-handed batsman. However, the former Indian opener believes that he has nothing to teach Gayle about T20I cricket.
Can teach everything except batting
During an interview, while replying to a fan, Jaffer said that he can only teach Gayle about rasing his social media game higher.
“There is not much I can teach him about T20 batting, he is a great player. I can only teach him how to raise his social media game, but for that, I have to show him Indian movies so that he can make some funny memes too."
The 43-year-old, who is currently the head coach of the Odisha state team, also gave several replies about his social media humour.
The former batsman said, "I have always been a serious player on the field, and the same is reflected in my nature."
But social media has given me a chance to explore my funny personality and hopefully make people laugh in the process.
Cricket mementos
Jaffer also said that he has always been fond of collecting cricket mementos.
“I have always loved collecting cricket memorabilia. Earlier, it used to be autographs of my childhood heroes like Sachin Tendulkar and later I loved collecting stumps from memorable matches. If as a cricketer it gives me so much pleasure to collect such mementos, then I can only imagine how thrilling it will be for the fans. So, I am sure Cricket NFT will soon become a household word.
