Yashasvi Jaiswal has been out of action since early January and this saw him miss India's white-ball series against New Zealand. After being admitted to the hospital due to food poisoning in December, he had lost 2kg in just two days and had been diagnosed with acute Gastroenteritis. Despite getting discharged soon, Jaiswal's gastro issue reemerged and he underwent tests a few days back.
Jaiswal to return in Ranji Trophy?
Sports Tak has learned that there has been improvement in Jaiswal's condition and now he has been advised to undergo further evaluation. He is expected to continue his medication for the next two weeks and will be starting physical activity very soon. If the recovery goes to plan, then he will likely be available to feature for Mumbai in the quarter-finals of the Ranji Trophy that will begin from February 6.
This can be a major boost for Mumbai as their batting order will be significantly strengthened by Jaiswal's return. The team has showcased sensational form in the tournament and has accumulated 30 points from the first six rounds. They currently sit at the top of Elite Group D and have a 9-point gap to second-placed Jammu & Kashmir. They have already qualified for the knockout stages with one round of fixtures still to go.
Jaiswal's maiden ODI hundred
Meanwhile, Jaiswal had smacked a phenomenal hundred in his last appearance for India. He had featured in the side's one-day encounter against South Africa and had played a stunning knock of 116*. He had played a major role in the Men in Blue's dominant 9-wicket victory that had seen them clinch the three-match series by 2-1. Notably, this was the left-hand batter's maiden century in the format.

Jaiswal had continued his blistering form in Mumbai's encounter against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and had smashed 101 runs from just 50 deliveries. He would have been looking forward to India's three-match ODI assignment against New Zealand, but wasn't able to make it to the squad due to his condition. It remains to be seen as to when will he don the Indian jersey again.
