India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is lately seen more in the field of politics as his wife Rivaba played a fine knock in her debut election fight. She has won the Jamnagar poll as she defeated her nearest rival by 53570 votes. The results after the conclusion of 17 rounds of voting showed, Rivaba leading with 8810 votes whilst her competitor Karshan Kumar of Aam Aadmi Party had garnered 34818 votes, the Election Commission said.

Rivaba expressed her gratitude towards her husband, stating that he stood by her supporting her in every which way throughout her campaign “I want to give credit to him for this victory as well. As my husband, he was always stood by my side. He motivated me and that’s a big thing for me,” she said.

“This was a first-time experience for him and when Modiji came, he commented on a lighter note that ‘you (Ravindra) must have never done fielding like this before.’ He (Ravindra) did whatever he could for me,” Rivaba added.

Rivaba was also the chief of the women's wing of Karni Sena before joining the BJP in 2019 for the Lok Sabha elections. At a media event at BJP’s Jamnagar office, she was welcomed to the party by Jamnagar-South MLA Rancho Faldu and Jamanar MP Poonam Maadam.

In 2018, Rivaba made headlines when she was allegedly accosted by a police constable in Jamnagar city, However, the police constable defended himself by alleging Rivaba with the reason of rash driving by Rivaba and lammed her car into his bike just outside police headquarters in the city. The officer who was apprehended was later granted bail by a local court after his advocate fought his case in the defence that the accused had been 'wrongly arraigned'.

Ravindra Jadeja is currently undergoing an injury since the Asia Cup game against Hong Kong where he hurt his knee. Since then he has missed the home series, T20 World Cup and the ongoing Bangladesh series and is not expected to make a comeback until the next year where India is likely to miss his service for the upcoming home Border-Gavaskar series. He recently came under fire from fans on the Internet for canvassing in the Indian jersey which drew a lot of flak.
