Former Zimbabwe cricketer with 193 international caps survived a leopard attack and was airlifted from Buffalo Range, Zimbabwe to undergo emergency surgery. Whittal's wife Hannah Stooks shared photo of her husband getting help from handlers and trackers along with one from the hospital to thank the well-wishers.
In the post, Hannah revealed that her husband lost a lot of blood as he was mauled by the leopard. Also, his pet dog Chikara was injured in an attempt to save him.
"Guy and I are overwhelmed by the hundreds of messages of well wishers after guys run in with a wounded leopard earlier today – We are very fortunate that he was stabilized at Hippo Clinic by wonderful staff. He was then Airlifted from Buffalo Range by Ace Ambulance to Harare, then transferred to Milton Park Hospital for treatment,” Hannah wrote in a Facebook post.
Not Guy’s first wild encounter
However, this is not the first time Whittal had an encounter with a wild animal. In 2013, he woke up to discover an eight-foot-long Nile crocodile hiding under his bed. The crocodile was reported to be above 150 lg swam from the river and sneaked into the Humani lodge in Zimbabwe where Whittal was fast asleep. Guy learned that a crocodile was under his bed all night when he heard screams of a housemaid while he was having breakfast.

Guy’s international career
Whittall, an aggressive batter in the middle order and a handy medium pacer made his ODI and Test debut in the last quarter of 1993. He has four Test centuries from 46 Tests including an unbeaten double century against New Zealand. In his 9-year-long Test career, he scored 2,207 runs at an average of 29.42. He had 10 half-centuries to his name in the red-ball format as well. He has 51 wickets in the longest format of the game.

He had a slightly longer career in the ODIs. With the white-ball, he has 88 wickets from 147 games. He has scored 2,705 runs at an average of 22.54 including 11 half-centuries. He could not score a century in the white-ball format. He is seventh on the list of batters with most runs in ODIs without a century.
