Suryakumar Yadav jas jumped to no.7 in the T20I batting rankings

India captain Suryakumar Yadav has surged five spots to claim the No. 7 position in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings. This rankings boost follows a series of dominant performances against New Zealand, marking a long-awaited return to form for the middle-order maestro. With the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup just around the corner, his resurgence provides a crucial psychological edge for the Indian squad.

Currently sitting at 717 rating points, Yadav’s rise was fueled by a spectacular comeback that ended a 468-day drought without a half-century. The highlight of his resurgence was an unbeaten 82 off just 37 balls in Raipur, which dismantled the New Zealand bowling attack and allowed India to chase down 209 with ease. This innings was particularly vital, as it silenced critics and proved he could still balance his signature aggressive strokeplay with the responsibility of anchoring an innings.

The captain maintained this momentum through the third T20I in Guwahati, where his blistering 57 not out helped India secure a clinical 3-0 series sweep. Statistically, Yadav has been in a league of his own this series, amassing 171 runs at a staggering strike rate of 201.17. By averaging triple digits and consistently finding the boundary, he has reaffirmed his status as one of the most dangerous T20 hitters in the world heading into the global tournament.

Abhishek Sharma continues to remain Numero Uno

Abhishek Sharma has solidified his status as the world’s premier T20I batter, extending his lead at the top of the rankings to a commanding 80 points. His recent dominance was highlighted by a historic performance in the third T20I, where he smashed the second-fastest fifty ever by an Indian, reaching the milestone in a mere 14 deliveries. This followed a powerful 84-run outing in Nagpur, bringing his current rating to 929 points, just shy of his personal best of 931 set during the previous year's Asia Cup.

On the bowling front, Bumrah has made significant strides by climbing four places to reach 13th in the global T20I rankings. His ascent follows a masterclass in the third match of the series, where his three-wicket haul earned him Player of the Match honors. Bumrah’s return to the upper echelons of the rankings provides a major boost to India’s defensive strategy as the team fine-tunes its bowling unit.
