India are set to take on England in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The big clash between the top two-ranked T20I teams will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5. The winner of this game will move on to the final on March 8 in Ahmedabad, where they will meet either New Zealand or South Africa from the first semi-final.

Both teams have been in strong form, winning six of their seven matches so far in the tournament. With so much at stake, fans can expect a tight and exciting contest in Mumbai.

Looking back at India’s record against England in T20 World Cups, the two sides have met five times. India have won three of those games and lost two.

India’s highest total against England in a T20 World Cup came in 2007, when they scored 218 for 4 in 20 overs at Kingsmead in Durban. Their lowest total in these meetings was 150 for 5 at Lord’s in 2009.

Their biggest win over England in the tournament was a 90-run victory in Colombo in 2012. On the other hand, their heaviest loss came in the 2022 semi-final at Adelaide, where they were beaten by 10 runs. The closest win India have had against England was by 18 runs in Durban in 2007, while their narrowest defeat was a three-run loss at Lord’s in 2009.

Highest individual performance vs England in T20 World Cup

When it comes to individual performances, Rohit Sharma has scored the most runs for India against England in T20 World Cups, with 148 runs in five matches. The highest individual score belongs to Virender Sehwag, who made 68 off 52 balls in Durban in 2007. Sehwag also holds the best batting average in these contests, at 68.00.

Yuvraj Singh made a huge impact in this rivalry as well. He has the highest strike rate (minimum 25 balls faced), scoring at 300.00. He hit 75 runs in three matches and smashed nine sixes in total. In fact, during his famous 58 off just 16 balls in Durban in 2007, he struck seven sixes in a single match.

With the ball, Harbhajan Singh has been India’s most successful bowler against England in T20 World Cups, picking up eight wickets in three matches. His best figures were 4 for 12 in Colombo in 2012.

In the field, Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan have taken three catches each, the most by any Indian against England in these games. Rishabh Pant has two dismissals to his name, including a catch and a stumping.

The highest partnership for India against England in T20 World Cups is 136 runs for the first wicket between Sehwag and Gambhir in Durban in 2007.
