India opener KL Rahul's 130 helped Karnataka chase down 325 against Shardul Thakur's Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 quarterfinal. On Day 4 of the clash, Rahul and Smaran Ravichandran took charge of the run chase and helped Karnataka get over the line with four wickets in hand. They knocked out 42-time Ranji champions Mumbai out of the tournament.

In the run chase, Agarwal fell for a single-digit score to Thakur. Skipper Devdutt Padikkal scored 39 runs before getting dismissed by Kotian. Then, Thakur dismissed Karun Nair as well.

Rahul got to his half-century from 147 balls. He and Ravichandran shared a 147-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Tushar Deshpande dismissed Rahul with a short ball as Yashasvi Jaiswal took a stunning catch. The opener scored 130 runs from 182 balls, including 14 fours and a six. This was his 24th century in first-class cricket.

In his next over, Deshpande dismissed Shreyas Gopal. Kotian got into the act and got Kruthik Krishna stumped for a single-digit score. Karnataka were 285/6 with 50 more runs to win. A well-set Ravichandran and Vidyadhar Patil ensured Mumbai don't rush through the lower order. Karnataka chased down the target in 73.4 overs.

Patil hit three fours and one six in his 30-ball 31 lifting the pressure off Ravichandran. The 22-year-old remained unbeaten on 83 off 123 balls, featuring 11 fours.

Collapses in 1st innings, Mumbai set challenging target

Earlier, on Day 1, Thakur won the toss and opted to bat first. Akhil Herwadkar scored the lone half-century as Mumbai suffered a collapse and were bowled out for 120. Vidwath Kaverappa, Prasidh Krishna and Shreyas Gopal claimed three wickets each. In reply, Mayank Agarwal scored 92 but lacked support from the other end. Karnataka were bowled out for 173 but managed to take a 53-run lead.

In their second innings, Mumbai posted 377 on the board. Akash Anand scored a half-century whereas Musheer Khan (49), Tanush Kotian (48 not out) and Tushar Deshpande (47) contributed in 40s.
