New Zealand's star pacer Lockie Ferguson is set to fly back home on February 15 during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 group stages. Ferguson will return home to be with his wife Emma and welcome their first child.
Ferguson will not be available for selection for New Zealand's final Group D clash against Canada on February 17.

Head coach Rob Walter is excited for Ferguson and hopes he joins the squad for the Super 8 stage. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) haven't named a replacement for Ferguson. In his absence, one of the travelling reserves – Ben Sears and McConchie — will join the squad if need be.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for Lockie and Emma and we’re pleased that he’ll be at home for such a special occasion,” said Walter.

“At this stage, we won’t be replacing Lockie in the squad as the plan would be for him to return for the Super 8 phase of the tournament.
“But our travelling reserves Ben Sears and Cole McConchie are ready to be called into the squad should we need them.”
On February 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Ferguson was unimpressive with the ball like most Kiwi bowlers. From 3.1 overs, he conceded 33 runs. However, he got the breakthrough with the new ball, removing Quinton de Kock for a 14-ball 20.
Kiwis lose to Proteas but Super 8 chances still strong
New Zealand lost to South Africa by seven wickets. They failed to defend the score of 175/7 after Proteas skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl first.
New Zealand are currently placed second in Group D points table. A win against Canada will confirm their spot in the group stages where they are likely to join Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England until and unless there is a major upset waiting in the coming days.
