Stuart Broad etched his name in Ashes record books on Day 2 of the fifth and final test of the series. Broad became the first English pacer to take 150 or more wickets in Ashes cricket history. Broad achieved the milestone with the wicket of Australian opener Usman Khawaja.
Broad is now the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of Ashes. Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne is on top with 195 wickets from 36 Tests. He is followed by Glenn McGrath who has taken 157 wickets from 30 Tests.
Earlier in the Ashes 2023, Ian Botham was the highest wicket-taker for England. Botham has 128 wickets from 32 Tests. During the series, he surpassed Botham, Dennis Lille, Hugh Trumble to reach the third spot.
In the first over after second session, Broad trapped Khawaja in front of the stumps. Khawaja reviewed the decision but umpire Kumar Dhamasena's decision stood. In his next over, Broad got the wicket of in-form Travis Head who edged it to wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow.
Broad is also fifth on the list of bowlers with most Test wickets against a single side.
