At just 21 years old, Mohan’s consistent performances in India’s domestic cricket circuit have caught the selectors’ attention. His inclusion in the India A squad comes as part of the upcoming series against New Zealand, where he will participate in the 2nd and 3rd four-day matches. This tour overlaps with the senior team’s white-ball series against New Zealand, where KL Rahul features in India’s ODI squad. Due to Rahul's commitment to the white-ball matches, he won't be available for some unofficial tests, giving opportunities to emerging talents like Mohan.

Mohan’s impressive track record includes a stellar Ranji Trophy season in 2025-26, where he amassed 613 runs, including a noteworthy double century. Continuing his form, he has already scored 297 runs this current season with an extraordinary average of 99. Notable innings of 143 and 127 against Caroline Maharashtra highlight his capability. Beyond the Ranji Trophy, he performed strongly in the Duli Trophy final, hitting half-centuries in both innings for East Zone against South Zone.

In October, Mohan further showcased his batting strength in the Irani Cup by scoring 160 in the first innings representing the Rest of India against Jammu and Kashmir. His rising profile underlines his potential to contribute significantly to the India A squad on the New Zealand tour and possibly beyond.
