India's explosive batter Abhishek Sharma looked in top notch form ahead of his Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign with Punjab, turning a recent net session into a remarkable display of power-hitting. According to reports from PTI, the young opener looked determined to carry forward the explosive momentum he built during a standout year with the Indian T20I squad. For nearly an hour at the Anantam Cricket Ground in Jaipur, the world’s top-ranked T20 batter turned a six-hitting monster to unleash hell fire on bowlers during his net session.

The session was less of a routine practice and more of a specialised six-hitting clinic. Abhishek reportedly launched at least 45 deliveries over the ropes, specifically focusing on dominating spin under challenging conditions. On a surface that offered significant grip and sharp turn, he made it his mission to dismantle the bowlers, treating the session as a high-intensity drill to sharpen his attacking instincts.

Abhishek's special drill to tackle spinners

To test his skills, Abhishek faced a variety of spin disciplines, including off-spin, leg-spin, and left-arm orthodox. Even after requesting the light roller to settle the pitch, the surface remained unpredictable, with the ball either jumping awkwardly or skidding low. While shortened lengths occasionally caused trouble, Abhishek’s sharp footwork allowed him to adjust quickly, ensuring he maintained his dominance despite the misbehaving track.

Abhishek’s technical adaptability was on full display throughout the session. After being beaten by a few sharp deliveries early on, he quickly adjusted his approach, using his feet to dance down the track and pierce the gaps with precision. When the bowlers tried to pull back their length, he met them with confidence, lofting the ball over the infield with remarkable ease.

His dominance against spin was particularly evident in his aerial play, as several powerful strikes sailed over extra cover. The session even drew gasps from his teammates and support staff when a few of his hits cleared the boundary entirely, landing near the adjacent buildings.

The coaching staff intentionally introduced new challenges to test his discipline, placing a fielding net at short extra cover to penalize any mistimed drives. While Abhishek fell into the trap once, he made immediate tactical corrections, opting for straighter, safer shots to keep his scoring consistent.

Due to BCCI protocols regarding unmarked match strips, Abhishek spent his remaining time fine-tuning his left-arm spin and consulting with the coaches.
