Indian Test captain Shubman Gill has smashed his 10th Test century during the second Test match against West Indies at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The young batter completed his 100-run mark in 177 balls with a double run, his knock included thirteen boundaries and one six.
Shubman, who was appointed India's Test captain before the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, has smashed five Test centuries after becoming India's captain. Gill's last four Test centuries came in against England, where he smashed 754 runs in five Tests with a highest score of 269 runs. He was the highest run-getter of the series that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Gill surpassed Rohit Sharma
After his ton against West Indies, Gill became the player who smashed the most centuries in WTC history for India. His century against the West Indies in Delhi turned out to be the 10th ton, surpassing Rohit Sharma, who retired earlier this year, finishing with nine centuries in the WTC.

Gill equals Virat Kohli's record
Shubman Gill also equalled the record of batting great Virat Kohli, smashing the most centuries as captain in a year. He has now smashed five tons in 2025, while Kohli achieved this amazing milestone twice in his career. He scored five centuries as Test captain in 2017 and 2018 each and also recorded four tons in 2016. Kohli was at the peak of his batting form from 2016 to 2018.
