Megan does not intend to drag her career, feels T20 World Cup 2026 will be her last.

Australia’s experienced pacer Megan Schutt is set to play her last ICC event. Schutt hasn’t put a date on her retirement yet but will make her last major ICC event appearance in Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on England soil. Schutt does not wants to drag her career and wants the next generation to take over.

"I'm not much of a planner (about retirement); I like to go with the flow," Schutt told AAP . "But with how often World Cups are, and everything in between, there's always a carrot that gets dangled and eventually you have to make a decision.

"I don't want to be that person that stays longer than I should and drag the team down without realising. I like to think I'm pretty self aware; I can physically keep up but there are people coming through capable of doing what I do."

Schutt hungry for revenge

Schutt has been part of plenty of World Cup title wins. She is also hungry for revenge as Australia were knocked out of the semifinal by India in the ODI World Cup 2025. Before that South Africa beat Australia in the semifinal of T20 World Cup 2024.

"S*** yeah, big time," she said ahead of their campaign opener against Laura Wolvaardt-led South Africa in Manchester on June 13. "Hungry is one word and for me it's revenge, or spite ... it's definitely one I want to go and win.

"I'm competitive in everything I do - which is a good and a bad thing -  the last two have stung and, after being part of a lot of success, it stings even more.

"But then you think of the kids that haven't won a World Cup; it's a good reminder I've been lucky and want to restart that with the next generation."

The 33-year-old is likely to share the new ball with the recently turned 20 years old left-arm pacer Lucy Hamilton. The youngster’s inclusion meant Darcie Brown was left out of the squad as she had a few wicketless outings leading up to the T20 World Cup 2026 which is scheduled to begin on June 12.
