'We have two very good players': Harmanpreet Kaur hints at opportunities for Radha Yadav, Bharti Fulmali

India will begin their Women's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against Pakistan on June 14 in Birmingham.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said the team plans to make the most of its two warm-up games before the ICC Women's T20 World Cup by trying different playing combinations and analysing players on the bench. She signalled that players like Radha Yadav and Bharti Fulmali are likely to get chances the team focuses on its preparations for the  marquee tournament.

Harmanpreet Kaur opens up on the T20 WC preparations

Unfortunately, India's preparations for the upcoming ICC tournament did not go as per the plans, as they picked up a 2-1 T20I series loss against England. Despite taking an early lead in the three-game series, Harmanpreet Kaur-led side failed to continue with the same positive momentum.

After the loss, Harmanpreet noted that the Indian side have a certain playing XI, as the management is pretty much clear with the combinations. However, they will still look to try to utilize the practice games to try new combinations.

“I feel we are pretty much clear, like what our XI is going to be going forward. I think we are pretty much clear and still we have two more games, practice games before the World Cup where we can still think about the other combinations," said Harmanpreet after the defeat.

 

 

Harmanpreet claimed that players like Radha Yadav and Bharti Fulmali, who are coming after a brilliant individual campaigns in the WPL 2026 are likely to get chances to prove themselves.

“Like Radha is there. She did really well in WPL and she also feels ready. And apart from her, Bharti Fulmali is also there. She is a middle-order batter. She also batted really well.

 

 

“I think still we have two very good players who are sitting out and hopefully we will give them a fair chance in the practice games where we can see how they go about," added Harmanpreet.

 

 

India's first clash in T20 WC

However, India will open their campaign in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 by playing against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, June 14 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Before the official league games, India will play two warm-up games against West Indies and England respectively. The first practice game against West Indies will be played on June 8 on Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Meanwhile, the game against England will take place at the same venue on June 10.
