England Women’s captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of her side's upcoming two matches of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 after sustaining an injury. The superstar all-rounder suffered a left calf muscle strain while batting against Ireland Women during Tuesday's group-stage encounter in Southampton. Notably, the strain occurred in a similar location to a recent injury she had been managing, prompting her to retire herself out during the match as a strict precautionary measure.
Following a scan on Wednesday and a subsequent thorough assessment by the England medical team, management decided to handle her recovery conservatively. As a result, Sciver-Brunt will sit out England’s upcoming high-stakes clashes against Scotland and the West Indies. In her absence, vice-captain Charlie Dean will step up to lead the team on the field for both matches as England looks to maintain their momentum in the tournament.
“Nat will continue to be monitored and assessed by the England medical team as she undertakes her rehab while remaining in the squad,” the England and Wales Cricket Board stated.
