India captain Harmanpreet Kaur scripted history during the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 clash against Pakistan on June 14 in Birmingham. Harmanpreet shattered Mithali Raj's all-time India record to become nation's highest run-scorer in the Women's T20 World Cup history.
Harmanpreet Kaur busts Mithali Raj's historic record
With this milestone, Kaur now sits at the pinnacle of the charts for India Women in T20 World Cups with 762 runs. She is followed by Mithali Raj (726), Smriti Mandhana (592), Jemimah Rodrigues (408), and Punam Raut (375). Reaching the landmark in 40 matches and 34 innings, the veteran batter also eclipsed Australia's Beth Mooney to claim the spot as the 9th-highest run-scorer in Women's T20 World Cup history.
Walking out to the crease at a critical juncture with India stuttering at 18/2, Kaur steadied the ship with a composed 36 off 35 balls, including four boundaries. She successfully anchored a crucial 91-run partnership off 63 deliveries with Mandhana for the third wicket, effectively rebuilding the innings and shifting the momentum back to the Men in Blue's female counterparts.
Her resilient efforts, coupled with a fluent half-century from Mandhana and a late cameo from explosive wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, powered India to a formidable 170/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

While Sadia Iqbal also picked up two wickets, she proved expensive by conceding 41 runs, while fellow bowlers Rameen Shamim and Tasmia Rubab chipped in with a wicket apiece. Pakistan now faces a steep chase of 171 runs to secure a victory against India and kick off their World Cup campaign on a winning note.
