West Indies storms into Women's T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal with a dominating six-wicket win against England

Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph's fifties helped West Indies women to defeat England Women in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup 2024 clash by six wickets. With this win against England, West Indies stormed into the quarterfinal in the marquee event in Dubai. 

After being asked to bat, England managed to score 141 runs in 20 overs where Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 57 off 50 and skipper Heather Knight who was looking more confident managed to smash 21 off 13 before getting retired hurt. WIndies' bowler Afy Fletcher got three scalps conceding 21 runs in four overs. captain Hayley Matthews picked up two. 

After coming to bat openers Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph smashed England bowlers to all over the ground. Hayley Matthews scored 50 off 38 and Qiana Joseph smashed 52 off 38.

"Sure sure (a dance move as promised?) (does a little dance). She (Matthews) told me just back myself and watch the ball all the way through. I was real aggressive at the start. I like a little competition in the end. It was a bit challenging of course. Just backed myself to hit through the line of the ball. Feel real happy, just want to thank the lord. My teammates were supporting me all the way. Means a lot to us (semifinal spot)" said Qiana Joseph in post-match conference. 

 

 

England's Nat Sciver-Brunt got the first breakthrough as they picked up Joseph when the WIndies were on 102 after that over Sarah Glenn picked up Hayley Matthews's wicket. England's Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn managed to get one wicket each which helped the Windies to chase down the score in 18 overs. Qiana Joseph was awarded Player of the Match for her iconic performance in the clash.
