Former Watford midfielder Pierre Dwomoh is facing disciplinary action after being found guilty of racially abusing a teammate of Indian heritage during his time with the club's Under-21 setup. The Belgian footballer has been handed an 11-match suspension by the Football Association (FA) following an investigation into incidents that took place during the 2025-26 season.
The punishment comes after an independent commission deemed the offense extremely serious, with the player ultimately accepting responsibility for his actions and pleading guilty to the charges.

According to findings from the disciplinary hearing, the incidents occurred during warm-ups before Watford Under-21 fixtures against Swansea and Colchester United in October and November 2025 respectively.
The victim, referred to as "Player A" in official documents, was a teammate of Indian heritage. The commission concluded that Dwomoh made a series of inappropriate comments on separate occasions, leading to formal charges being brought against him.
The report also noted that the Belgian initially failed to accept responsibility and attempted to persuade the teammate to withdraw his complaint before later acknowledging wrongdoing.
Following the conclusion of the investigation, the FA imposed an 11-match suspension, which has been backdated to April 2026. In addition to the sporting sanction, Dwomoh has also been fined £2,500 and ordered to complete a mandatory face-to-face education program.
Player later accepted responsibility for comments
During the proceedings, Dwomoh maintained that some of the exchanges were intended as jokes and claimed he did not initially understand the offensive nature of certain remarks. However, the commission rejected several aspects of his defense while considering the overall seriousness of the case.
The former Watford player eventually apologized and accepted responsibility for his conduct, a factor that was taken into account during sentencing.
Despite his admission, the commission emphasized that the comments directed toward his teammate were unacceptable and warranted significant punishment. The case serves as another reminder of football authorities' continued efforts to combat discrimination and racism across all levels of the game.
With the ban now confirmed, Dwomoh will be unavailable for competitive action during the suspension period while also completing the educational requirements imposed by the FA.
