Novak Djokovic's quest for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title has suffered another heartbreaking setback after reigning champion Jannik Sinner produced a commanding display to book his place in the Wimbledon 2026 final. The Italian defeated the Serb in straight sets, ending Djokovic's latest bid for history and setting up a blockbuster championship clash against Alexander Zverev.

Jannik Sinner dominates Djokovic to reach second straight Wimbledon final
Sinner continued his impressive run at the All England Club with a clinical 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Djokovic in the semi-finals, securing his second consecutive Wimbledon final appearance.
The triumph also marked Sinner's second Wimbledon victory over Djokovic, underlining the Italian's growing dominance in one of tennis' biggest rivalries. It will be the seventh Grand Slam final of Sinner's career as he now looks to successfully defend his Wimbledon crown.
The world No. 1 has now won six of his last seven meetings against Novak Djokovic across all competitions. Even more remarkably, Jannik Sinner has captured six consecutive sets against the Serbian on grass, highlighting his authority over the seven-time Wimbledon champion at the All England Club.
Sinner will now face Alexander Zverev in Sunday's final as he aims to claim another major title and successfully defend his Wimbledon crown.
Djokovic's wait for elusive 25th Grand Slam title continues
For Djokovic, the defeat extends his wait for a historic 25th Grand Slam singles title, a milestone that would move him further clear as the most successful major champion in tennis history.
The loss was also a statistical rarity. Across his illustrious career, Djokovic has now been beaten in straight sets only 69 times, while it marked just the fifth straight-sets defeat of his Wimbledon career.
The Serbian last lifted a Grand Slam trophy at the 2023 US Open, and his latest disappointment means his pursuit of a record-breaking 25th major will now shift to Flushing Meadows later this year.
