Spain won the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Monday, July 20 (As per IST) after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the summit clash. It was an outstanding performance from the Spanish national team, as they displayed their dominating side on the pitch with having majority of the possession throughout the game, and restricted the 2022 edition champions from taking a single shot at the target.

Toni Kroos trolls Argentina

Reacting to Spain's historic win, former Real Madrid icon Toni Kroos has appeared to fire shots at the Argentina national team by sharing a cryptic post through his official X (Formerly known as Twitter). Kroos, who was part of the German national team who lifted the world title in 2014 after defeating Argentina in the final, shared a two-word post on X.

"Football won," wrote Kroos.

How Spain goal the winning goal against Argentina

In a tense final, Spain took a 1-0 lead over defending champions Argentina deep into extra time. Ferran Torres, the Barcelona forward, opened the scoring early in the second period of extra time with a powerful high shot inside the box.

The goal followed a headed back-pass from Nico Williams, rewarding Spain’s persistent pressure after a goalless 90 minutes. Spain had dominated the match in terms of possession and chances, though Argentina defended resolutely despite finishing regulation time with 10 men after midfielder Enzo Fernández received a second yellow card.
