'I'll definitely remind him': Mbappe warns Lamine Yamal against overconfidence ahead of France vs Spain semifinal

France will face Spain in the semifinal clash of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 on July 15 at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington. However, Lamine Yamal feels that Spain will overcome the France threat in the semifinal and reach the summit clash without any difficulty.

Kylian Mbappe responds to Yamal's claims

While appearing at the pre-match press conference, France's star forward Kylian Mbappe addressed the remarks made by Yamal, where he overconfidently claimed that Spain will easily defeat France as they have a superior record over them in the recent past.

While reflecting on Yamal's recent comments, Mbappe claimed that he likes the confidence the Barcelona forward has, but advised not to enter the are of overconfidence as football can be a very cruel sport at times. Before concluding, Mbappe said that he would remind Yamal about his words, if France emerge victorious in the semifinal clash.

"I heard what Lamine said about Spain winning, and I like that confidence. Great players should believe in themselves. But when you speak before a match, you also accept that your words can come back to you. If France wins, I'll definitely remind him of this moment—not out of disrespect, but because that's football," said Mbappe.

In the ongoing World Cup, the Real Madrid forward has enjoyed a spellbinding form while representing France. The former PSG star has managed to score eight goals and record three assists in just six outings.

With 11 goal contributions, Mbappe leads the tournament's overall contribution charts and is leveled with Argentina's Lionel Messi at the top of the Golden Boot race.
