In the game against New Zealand, Belgium needed a win by a big-margin to move above Egypt on goal difference, and the Red Devils somehow stood up to the big occasion. Leandro Trossard struck a brace, while Kevin De Bruyne and Alexis Saelemaekers also appeared on the scoresheet before Romelu Lukaku came off the bench and made an instant impact.

After Elijah just reduced the deficit for New Zealand to 3-1, Belgium head coach Domenico Tedesco brought Lukaku into the pitch. The star striker proved his worth, scoring with his first touch as he rose unmarked to head in Belgium's fourth and send the Red Devils back to the top of the live standings.

The goal by Lukaku held significance beyond the outcome, as it was his sixth goal in the history of the FIFA World Cup and helped him surpass Marc Wilmots as Belgium's outright top scorer in the tournament.
