Tottenham Hotspur’s preparation for a busy upcoming week faced a massive jolt after six of their first team players and two members of the coaching staff have reportedly been tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of regular RT-PCR tests.

Tottenham were slated to take on Ligue 1 (French League) side Rennes in an Europa Conference League group match on December 10 (1:30 AM IST). After the European fixture. Antonio Conte’s side will clash against English Premier League (EPL) side Brighton on December 12 (Sunday). Tottenham will travel to Leicester next week for their upcoiming EPL match.

Tottenham saw matches against Aston Villa and Fulham called off last season due to Covid-19, while two players posted false positive results on a lateral flow test earlier this term, but were later cleared to play by a negative PCR test.

UEFA’s guidelines state that a team is in jeopardy if they have fewer than 13 players available or no registered goalkeeper. This apparently means that calling off the Europa Conference League match is highly improbable but if the match takes place eventually then it is needless to say that Tottenham manager Antonio Conte will have a big headache to field a strong team.

Tottenham are currently at fifth spot in EPL and at second position in the Europa Conference League.
