Barcelona defender Gerard Martín has dismissed concerns over Real Madrid's busy transfer window, insisting his side remains focused on their own ambitions ahead of the new La Liga season. The player is not worried about the new signings by the rival club but rather is focusing on their upcoming season.
Barcelona defender sends clear message to Real Madrid for summer spending
Speaking to Spanish radio station Cope, the 24-year-old said:
“Let them sign whoever they want. Frankly, I don’t care who Real Madrid signs. We only focus on ourselves.”
Martin added:
“We will compete as we do every year.”
Martín has emerged as a key figure in Barcelona’s backline. Versatile enough to play at left-back or as a left-sided centre-back, the academy graduate has been instrumental in the club’s recent domestic successes, including back-to-back La Liga titles.
Martín’s comments come as Real Madrid, under recently reappointed manager Jose Mourinho, have strengthened their squad with notable arrivals including Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté, and Denzel Dumfries, with further big-name targets linked. Despite Madrid’s activity, Martín stressed Barcelona’s internal confidence.
The club has made selective additions to their attack, trusting in the cohesion built under Flick. The remarks highlight the enduring confidence within the Barcelona camp as the two Spanish giants prepare for another intense season of El Clasico rivalry.
