Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has brushed off any worries about referee decisions in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bayern’s Kimmich speaks on referee concerns ahead of UCL clash with Real Madrid
Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the much-awaited clash, Kimmich, when asked about the referee concerns at the away venue, stated:
“I’m not worried about that.”
English referee Michael Oliver has been appointed for the high-stakes encounter, continuing a UEFA pattern of assigning English officials to Bayern's matches against Spanish sides. The tie, set for April 7, promises the intense atmosphere and fine-margin calls long associated with games at the Bernabeu, where Real Madrid has a storied history of dramatic European nights.
Kimmich acknowledged the unique pressure of the stadium but stated that his team is focused solely on their own performance rather than external factors. Kimmich stressed a confident, battle-ready mentality for Bayern, noting that the squad is fully fit and excited for what he called “the ultimate test.”
The player for the Bundesliga side highlighted Los Blancos' ability to create danger from any situation and the need for mental and tactical sharpness to overcome them. With all players available, including expectations that Harry Kane will feature despite recent fitness concerns, the German side aims to deliver a strong result in Madrid before hosting the second leg at home.
