Portugal and Manchester United star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo announced the sad news of the passing away of his baby boy on Monday, April 18.
Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez were expecting twins. But on Monday, the Red Devils forward shared the news about his son's death on Instagram, also requesting privacy after the announcement. He also mentioned that the baby girl lived.
"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away," Ronaldo and Rodriguez's statement read. "It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.
"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.
"We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."
Ronaldo returned to England at the beginning of the 2021-22 Premier League season to rejoin his former club Manchester United. He is currently the club's highest goalscorer for the season with 15 goals. The 37-year-old legendary stat recently reached the milestone of 50 hat-tricks in his club career.
This came in the match against Norwich City at Old Trafford Stadium on Saturday, to help the Red Devils beat their opponents 3-2 in a crucial game in the race for the top four.
