Barcelona legend and former manager Xavi Hernández has revealed his next coaching chapter. Xavi has indicated that his next coaching chapter is likely to be with a national team, citing the desire for more time with his young children.
Xavi’s pedigree as a player, including multiple Champions League titles and La Liga successes with Barcelona, and his experience managing one of world football’s biggest clubs make him an appealing candidate for several federations ahead of upcoming tournaments.

In recent comments, Xavi explained:
“My next step could be a National team. It would suit me and I WANT THAT.”
The former Barcelona player and head coach added that the intense schedule of club football leaves little room for family life. He said:
“I have family. A club wouldn’t allow me as much time with my family, I’ve got young children.”
The 46-year-old, who left Barcelona in 2024 after a mixed spell as head coach, expressed strong interest in competing on the international stage. He added that he is keen to take part as a coach in a World Cup, EURO, AFCON, an Asian Cup.
National team positions typically involve far fewer matches per year than club roles, which often exceed 60 games across multiple competitions. This more balanced calendar has become increasingly attractive to managers seeking longevity and personal well-being. No specific national team links have been confirmed, but his comments have already sparked discussion.
