Erling Haaland continued his sensational start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, scoring twice as Norway defeated Senegal to secure a place in the knockout stages. In doing so, the Manchester City striker became his country's outright all-time top goalscorer at the World Cup finals after just two appearances.

The 25-year-old netted his third and fourth goals of the tournament in the victory over Senegal, taking his personal tally in the competition to four. This surpassed the previous joint record held by Kjetil Rekdal and Tore André Flo, who each scored two World Cup goals for Norway in the 1990s.

Haaland opened his World Cup account with a brace on debut against Iraq in a 4-1 group-stage win. His relentless finishing and physical dominance have quickly established him as one of the standout performers of the early stages of the expanded 2026 tournament.

The Norwegian captain now has 59 international goals in just 52 appearances for his country, more goals than caps, underlining his status as one of the most prolific strikers in world football. Norway sits atop Group I with maximum points from two matches and will look to Haaland to guide them deeper into the competition as they chase a historic run at the World Cup.
