Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has expressed clear frustration with refereeing decisions but stopped short of direct criticism following his side’s disappointing home loss to Leeds United on Monday.

The Red Devils star, however, dropped a cryptic response telling he was not happy with the decisions made, which he believes were totally unfair against his team. Meanwhile, he also stated that if he speaks, he will get in trouble for being honest about what he feels.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match at Old Trafford, Fernandes said:

“I don’t talk about the referee… if I talk about the referee, I will get in a BIG TROUBLE.”

The comment came after Lisandro Martínez was sent off in the second half for violent conduct, leaving Michael Carrick’s side to play with 10 men while already trailing. The incident occurred in the 54th minute when Martínez pulled Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair.

Initially missed by the referee, the foul was reviewed via VAR, prompting the official to check the pitchside monitor before issuing a straight red card. United had fallen 2-0 behind to first-half goals from Noah Okafor and struggled to mount a comeback despite a late goal by Casemiro, which was not enough to escape the loss.
