Enzo Maresca has named the interim captains ahead of the club football season. The Manchester City boss has confirmed Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland as the club’s captains for the time being.
Speaking ahead of the Community Shield clash with Arsenal, Maresca revealed that the pair will form the current leadership core while he waits until the end of the transfer window to finalise a four-man group.

Maresca said:
“At the moment, it is Ruben and Erling, and I want to wait until the end of the transfer window and pick two more.”
The decision comes after last season’s captain Bernardo Silva departed for Real Madrid. Defender Dias, a long-standing member of the leadership group, is expected to wear the armband against Arsenal, while Haaland continues in a captaincy role despite Maresca’s well-publicised preference for skippers to report to the touchline for instructions during goal celebrations.
Maresca stated that the higher standards are expected of those in the group. With uncertainty still surrounding the squad’s final composition, the full leadership structure is set to be confirmed once the window closes.
