The UEFA Nations League quarterfinals concluded on March 23 and the four teams who made it to the semifinals have been now finalized. Germany, Spain, France and Portugal are the four team's that have made it to the semifinals.
Germany were the only team to advance in regulation over the two legs against Italy. They defeated the 2006 FIFA World Cup winner 5-4 on aggregate as they reached the semis. Apart from Germany, all other three quarterfinals were tied as they went on to extra time. Portugal got the better of Denmark as they defeated them 5-3 on aggregate, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring his 929th goal of his long illustrious career.
Spain had the last laugh as they knocked out Netherlands on penalties after winning the shootout 5-4. The game was tied at 3-3 during the extra time as the match went into the penalty shootout. France eliminated Croatia in the penalty shootout (5-4) to secure their spot in the semis. There match was too tied 2-2 in the extra time, forcing them to move on to the penalty shootouts.
All the previous three winners of the competition are alive while Germany secure at least a fourth place finish for the first time in UEFA Nations League history. We are guaranteed to have a previous winner in the final as Spain takes on France in a rematch of the 2021 final.
