A footballer from Uttarakhand, who was playing in a local tournament in the state, scored a brilliant goal from a corner and earned a lot of praise for his efforts.

Goals that are scored from a corner are called Olympic goals. This term also called 'Olimpico,' comes after Argentine striker Cesareo Onzari’s corner kick spun directly into the goal for the reigning Olympic champion Argentina in a 1924 friendly against Uruguay.

Hemraj Johri's goal was similar to many stars of the beautiful game, namely Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Lionel Messi. The 15-year-old's goal video went viral, and in the video, it can be seen that with a corner kick, the ball hits the goalkeeper and swings straight into the goal. His video has earned him the title 'Ronaldo of Uttarakhand' and his goal also caught the eye of Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

"There is no dearth of young talent in the state of Uttarakhand, Hemraj Johri of Munsiyari, a frontier area, is a direct example of this. The state government is working to provide a proper platform to such talented youth through the new sports policy. Many many best wishes to Hemraj for a bright future," the CM said while sharing a video of the goal.

The boy from Munsiyari told Navbharat Times in an interview that his team went on to win the match by nine goals, with him scoring five goals himself. His goal is reminiscent of many goals that have been scored by international players in the Indian Super League (ISL).

Chennaiyin FC's Brazilian midfield maestro Rafael Crivellaro has scored one of the best Olympic goals that Indian football has seen in the ISL for the South Indian outfit. In addition to him, Bruno Pellissari, Javier Hernandez and Manuel Lanzarote are two other players to score goals from a corner.
