A humanoid robot has captured global attention after scoring a free-kick and performing Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous “SIUUU” celebration during the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. The moment took place at the National Speed Skating Oval as part of the five-day event held from 22 to 26 August 2026, and it has now gone viral.
The SIUUU moment highlighted how far humanoid robotics has advanced in replicating complex, culturally recognisable human movements. Organisers and observers noted it as a light-hearted but impressive showcase of the technology’s growing capabilities in both sport and entertainment.

The robot lined up a free-kick, sent the ball past a barrier of inflatable figures into the net, then ran to the side, jumped, spun in the air and landed with arms outstretched in a near-perfect recreation of the Portuguese star’s signature pose. The footage quickly went viral on social media, amassing millions of views.
The Games brought together more than 2,000 robots from 666 teams across 16 countries. Competitors took part in 51 events ranging from athletics and football to martial arts, dance and real-world scenario challenges. Chinese robots set notable times in the 100m and 400m, while others demonstrated advanced mobility and coordination.
