Argentina made a fiery start in their key FIH Men's Hockey World Cup Pool E clash at the Wagener Hockey Stadium, banking on India's defensive errors in the initial moments of the game. A fluent counter attack caught the Indian defense off guard, letting Los Leones to strike early. India reacted quickly through Sukhjeet Singh, who converted a clean crafted move initiated by Shilanand Lakra to restore parity. However Argentina reclaimed the momentum before the end of the first 15 minutes, seizing control of the game with relentless attack to lead 2-1 at the first break.
Big loss for India
The second quarter saw Argentina double down on their attacking momentum, testing India's backline with sharp movements and fast transitions. Despite captain Harmanpreet Singh trying to rally the side from the back, India struggled to convert their minimal entries into the circle. Capitalizing on a penalty corner chance, the South American side punished an undisciplined challenge in the D to increase the margin.
